Arise Roots Announce ‘Pathways’ Release Date
Highly Anticipated 3rd Full Studio Album Available Worldwide June 19th
LOS ANGELES, CA – Arise Roots are proud to announce their highly-anticipated third full studio album, Pathways, will be available worldwide June 19, 2020 from Ineffable Music. The massive, 15-song-release, features a strong selection of heavyweight artists such as Eric Rachmany of Rebelution, Kyle McDonald of Slightly Stoopid, Lutan Fyah, Nattali Rize, and Turbulence, along with bandmembers Karim Israel, Todd Johnson, Chris Brennan, Robert Sotelo, Rodolfo Covarrubias, and Jamey Zeb Dekofsky.
Recorded at 17th Street Recording Studio, in Costa Mesa, California with the help of Lewis Richards, Gary Larason, and Rick Haze, production credits for the album also include Winston Peters on drums, Micah Smoley on percussion, Eitan Avineri on trumpet, Wes Perry on saxophone, Joshu Molle on trombone, and Blake Colie on samples.
Pathways blends classic easy-vibing and dancehall sounds from the 70’s with deep, meaningful, soul-uplifting conscious music. Specializing in heavily Jamaican-influenced roots, the Southern California ‘lions in the jungle’ continue to deliver fresh reggae sounds with a modern feel while spreading love, respect, and positivity. Fade Away asks us to look past our politics, to remember love conquers hate, a message more relevant than ever in these divided times, while Selecta shows respect to the roots of reggae, shouting out love for legendary artists Peter Tosh, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Shabba Ranks, Sizzla, ninja man, and more.
The lead single, Come and Get It, featuring Kyle McDonald of Slightly Stoopid and Eric Rachmany of Rebelution, an unprecedented collaboration, invites us to look beyond our troubles and appreciate the joys and the pains of the struggle alike. The historic song took two years to create.
“We had no clue we were making history,” lead singer Karim Israel admits, “we just wanted to capture an awesome vibe on record. We couldn’t be any happier with the way the song came out and with the response from fans. Thanks again to Kyle and Eric for contributing their dopeness to this record.”
Notorious for debuting new music during live shows, bandmate Todd Johnson promises the album features a lot of never heard before material.
“We started from scratch on most of these tracks,” Todd explains. “We were really cautious what we shared because we really wanted our fans to enjoy an album with a lot of new songs that they hadn’t heard before.”

Finding inspiration in everything from the streets of LA to situations surrounding everyday life and social injustices throughout the world, Arise Roots instinctively injects raw energy and positivity directly into their music and performances. After extensive touring and festival appearances in 2015, Arise Roots recorded two new singles in 2016, “Rootsman Town” featuring Capleton (Jamaica) and “Crisis.” The releases were heavily supported on the Rootsman Summer Tour, which totaled 4 weeks of Arise Roots hosting their first headlining campaign.

Border Wall Inspired Song Speaks Out Against Racism & Xenephobia
LOS ANGELES, CA – Celebrated culture blenders Ozomatli are proud to announce that their latest single, “El Otro Lado”, is slated for world release April 19th, 2019. The new cumbia-flavored song is a collaboration between Ozomatli and founding member Chali 2na, with a guest appearance by hip-hop artist Olmeca.
Speaking out against racism and xenophobia, the lyrics highlight the struggle of Latinx workers who travel great distances at personal peril to provide for loved ones left behind.. and encourages you to dance across the border!

With his unmistakable baritone voice and 6-and-a-half foot charm, Chali 2na has established himself as one of hip-hop's preeminent and most charismatic personalities. He's also garnered renowned praise as a visual artist across a wide spectrum of mediums. Most known for co-founding music groups, Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli, Chali released his debut solo album "Fish Outta Water" in 2009.
Since then, he has been touring the world with his 3-piece band known as the House Of Vibe. Breathing new life into his musical past, he recently completed "Against The Current”, a music and art project that combines a series of (5) genre bending EPs with a coffee table book featuring original artwork and photography from Chali himself.

Hawaii Calling! Waikiki’s Entertainers Summer Tribute Announced
Traditional Hula Show Promises Unique Cultural Experience & More!
CULVER CITY, CA – Enthusiasts of Hawaiian culture and fans of dancing are in for a rare treat this summer. That’s because Halau hula o 'Imi 'Ike is celebrating 25 years of dance and culture with a special performance in August. "Hawaii Calls: Waikiki's Entertainers" is a tribute show that pays homage to the great entertainers of the 1940s and 1950s. The songs, costumes and feel of the show will celebrate that era of hula on the Hawaiian Islands.
“Everyone loves a great hula show,” offers Christine Chupek, a dancer in the halau. “We’ve created a unique culture experience that is sure to dazzle fans. All the music and costumes are from the 1940’s and 50’s. But Hawaii Calls isn’t just for island lovers. It’s an award-worthy performance, by any standards!”
The Ho'ike will take place on Saturday, August 6th at the James R. Armstrong Theater from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. Guests are encouraged to come early as seating will be first come first serve. The James R. Armstrong Theater is located at 3330 Civic Center Drive in Torrance, California, 90503.
